Weardale & Cow Green

Mon 7th Oct 2002 22:47 BST by Andrew from Darlington, U.K.
Had a nice day out with the folks wandering around Weardale and Teesdale. Walking in and around Bollihope, pausing for a stroll and to buy a paper in Middleton-in-Teesdale, a stroll and long rest at Cow Green reservoir and a trip around Alston and the magnificient views out towards the hills of the Lake District further on. There's something about Cow Green that I find very calming. It might be because there's nothing more than some gentle rolling hills covered in heather and a huge expanse of fresh water with the sun glistening on the surface between the small waves. No houses, no people (if you're lucky), no noise and no reminders of the 9 to 5.
